The 2019 Soave San Brizio is rich and heady in the glass, as almond paste and custard give way to ripe peaches and hints of kiwi. It envelops the palate in glycerol textures, as ultra-ripe tropical fruits cascade across a lifting core of saline-minerals and bright acids. The result is quite appealing, as the San Brizio tapers off remarkably fresh, with hints of young mango, vanilla bean and exotic spices that linger on. While large-scale in feel, the 2019 is harmonious and should do well over medium-term cellaring.
2020 Soave Classico Monte Stelle

Drinking Window: 2023 – 2029
Eric Guido, February 2022
The 2020 Soave Classico Monte Stelle is dusty and floral with scant notes of peach, yellow flowers and wet slate. It’s a soft yet vibrant effort, with ripe orchard fruits and cool-toned acids that create an extremely likable and high-energy expression. Saline-minerals come through in the lightly structured finish, as the Monte Stelle leaves the cheeks puckered and the palate craving more. Some time in the cellar should help the 2020’s aromatics to further develop.

The 2020 Soave is subtle and delicate in the glass with dusty yellow florals and hints of peach skins. It washes across the palate, soft and round, with a lovely mineral and acid balance. This leaves a glycerol coating of fruit concentration, yet still finishes remarkably fresh. While not the last note on depth, the 2020 is really quite lovely.
2016 Recioto di Soave Arzimo

Drinking Window: 2021 – 2028

The 2016 Recioto di Soave Arzimo is a deep golden color with a seductive bouquet that mixes dried apricots and pears with roasted almond and a hint of vanilla bean. There are depths of glycerol textures here, perfectly contrasted by bright acids, candied citrus and a sweet-and-sour mix of stone fruits. The Arzimo finishes fresh on tropical tones, with hints of mango and papaya tapering off to honeyed inner florals.

Exotic florals, herbal teas and tropical melon create a seductive bouquet as the 2018 Recioto di Soave Arzimo opens in the glass. Its velvety opulence finds balance through bright acids and a sour citrus twang, as notes of white raisin and peach preserves flood the palate. It’s persistent and noticeably sweet, yet with a salty core of minerality that keeps you looking back to the glass. Frankly speaking, the Arzimo is easy to like, and far too easy to drink.

The 2018 Soave San Brizio wafts up with mineral intensity, as crushed stone blows off to reveal musky apricot and savory spice. It’s silky in texture and rich, with a pure display of ripe peaches plus a hint of sour citrus and vanilla bean. Honeyed florals offset by a twang of lemon zest linger throughout the long, refreshing finale. While a bit large-scale in feel, the San Brizio maintains perfect balance. Very nice.

Bright straw. Pomaceous orchard fruit and herbs on the nose and in the mouth, lifted by fresh white flower nuances. Saline and tactile on the juicy and long finish. A wine of sneaky concentration, this smells and tastes of Garganega but nicely enlivened by Trebbiano di Soave (the wine is a 90-10 blend of the former and the latter varieties). Well done.

Bright deep golden yellow with amber tinges. Penetrating aromas of ripe papaya, caramel, baked apple pie, toffee and chestnut honey on the explosive nose that has a little volatile acidity to thank for added freshness. Enters very rich and sweet, then brighter with just enough acidity to keep it light and lively on the palate. The long aftertaste is an explosion of ripe tropical fruit, vanilla and honey; lovely. The word “Azimo” refers to the best grape bunches that are those especially selected for air-drying.
thank you!
